Growing up as a kid, I was taught an important lesson…but it wasn’t until later in life that I learned that lesson.  The words from my youth pastor still ring in my head: “The Christian walk was never meant to be walked alone”.

These words have proven to be a constant source of encouragement to me as well as a struggle.  You see, I know I need friendships, accountability, and community but it is not always the easy thing to seek out and embrace.  For me, it is easy to get busy and think that I can walk this Christian path alone, but I can honestly say that life is better WITH others.  When my wife and I had a miscarriage, we needed the support of others.  When  my son was baptized, the celebration was sweeter with friends and family.  When my grandfather passed away, I was comforted by the prayers and encouragement from others.  I can go on and on but the lesson I have learned is that relationships matter!  As a matter of fact, I am and constantly reminded of Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 where it says, ‘Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!’

Over the years, I have learned the importance of seeking out Christ-centered relationships and making them a priority.  That is why I am so passionately excited that at Mountain Lake Church we offer BAND OF BROTHERS for men and GIRLFRIENDS for women.  Join us this week and reconnect with good friends and make new friends… because we are BETTER TOGETHER!
